Performance recorded Lincoln Red genetics in demand at Melton Mowbray multibreed sale

The Lincoln Red Cattle Society premier show and sale at Melton Mowbray on Saturday 25th March saw Signet recorded bulls achieve top prices and taking home a clean sweep in the show classes. The demand for performance recorded cattle wasn’t just seen in their prices but was also reflected in the clearance rates, 100% of performance recorded animals sold.

The Brackenhurst herd from Nottingham University won overall champion bull with Brackenhurst Admiral and went on to achieve highest price of the day selling for 7,000gns. This bull had exceptional figures for growth and carcase attributes. Another bull from the Brackenhurst herd went on to sell for 5,200gns, with slightly lower EBVs for growth and carcase traits.

In the junior bull section, Beverley Apollo took first place rosette and went on to sell for 4,600gns.  The Beverley herd continued with their success winning the show heifer class and selling for 1800gns with an impressive EBV chart, with an overall beef value in the top 5% and maternal value in the top 10% of the breed.

The Brandon herd sold a maiden heifer for 1400gns, this yearling had a deep history of performance recording in its pedigree and had top figures for growth and carcase traits.
