Autumn sales continue to see Signet performance recorded sheep top the trade

Hampshire Down:

Carlisle:

Signet recorded Hampshire Downs continue to top sales this autumn with recent sales at Carlisle and Exeter. Firstly, a ram lamb B832200300 from the Treworthal flock with a Terminal sire index within the top 5% of the breed sold to 2000gns. This ram lamb had been through the CT scanner, and this highlighted the muscle depth and gigot muscularity figures within the top 5% of the breed.

The Rundle family also went on to sell further lots with two females achieving 1700gns, a ewe lamb B832200292 and an in-lamb shearing ewe B832100200. This was closely followed by a further two ewe lambs selling to 1300 and 1000gns.

Other sale leaders were from Graham and Judith Galbraith who sold two in lamb shearling ewes to 1300 and 1400gns, both sired by Wilstop Legend with a terminal sire index of 309 within the top 5% of the breed. A ewe lamb from the Graylen flock also sold to 1000gns

The Rennison’s flock then went on to sell an in-lamb shearling ewe B412100213 which sat within the top 5% of the breed for Terminal Sire Index and in lamb to Kersey Nobleman for 1000gns.

Exeter:

Following the successful sale in Carlisle, the Exeter sale achieved a great following with buyers in person and online via Marteye. The Treworthal flock also achieved top prices at Exeter with a ewe lamb B832200345 winning pre-sale champion and topping the sale at 950gns.

Followed by Jon Barnards Stourfield flock selling an older ewe scanned with twins for 550gns, two further older ewes sold to 520gn and 450gns, respectively. This was followed by an in-lamb ewe selling to 520gns.

The Derryman family also had a great sale with sheep heading across the country and having swept up many pre-sale rosettes, they achieved a top price of 500gns for a ewe lamb 30N2206260, a Lecropt Legend sired lamb with the highest terminal sire index in the sale.

Charollais:

Sheep from recorded flocks topped all sections at the Exeter Charollais sale. Firstly, selling the older ewes where the leading price was 500gns twice for the Elsridge flock, the ewes were both in lamb to Dalby Wasari who has a terminal sire index within the top 5% of the breed, with an exceptional scan weight EBV of 12.04.

In the shearling ewe section George Dart from the Woodhayes flock sold females to 400gns, in lamb to Lowereye 21ZVY07708 with a terminal sire index of 318 sitting within the top 10% of the breed. Two further ewes from the Woodhayes flock sold to 300gns and 350gns, also in lamb to Lowereye 21ZVY07708.
