New BLUP run dates for Terminal Sire and Hill Breeds

Signet understand the importance of providing breeders and ram buyers with the most up-to-date and accurate information in a timely manner. As our genetic evaluations expand and more breeders strive to supply genotypes and CT measurements before major sales, setting deadlines has become increasingly challenging.

After consulting with our stakeholders, we have decided to adjust our deadline dates from April 2025 to better meet the needs of various breeds. The new deadlines are as follows:

- Terminal Sire Evaluations – Deadline is the 1st Tuesday of the month

- Hill Evaluation – Deadline is the 3rd Tuesday of the month

- Maternal Evaluation – Deadline remains unchanged on the 4th Tuesday of the month

To ensure a smooth transition, we will generate a Terminal Sire run on 15th April and then again 6th May.

Laura has joined the Signet team as a breeding specialist, she comes from an agricultural background having grown up on a sheep farm in Cornwall, where they keep commercial ewes and run a small flock of pedigree Charollais sheep.

Laura has a strong interest in animal breeding and genetics having studied Animal Science (BSc Hons) at Harper Adams University. During her time at Harper, she spent an industrial placement in Cumbria working for a sheep breeding company and some of our clients may recognise her from this role. Since graduating she has worked for a large cattle breeding company before joining us at Signet to lead on a number of Signet’s sheep breeding projects.
